For the past many years, I have been observing the co-relation between diet and disease. You are what you eat, so if you eat the right food right from the time you are born, your body will function smoothly, and you will be strong and healthy.

Home Truths About Your Diet & You

The more toxins we digest, the faster we precipitate disease and age.

Our fast paces lives are moving us away from nature. We eat devitalized foods from fast food joints. Canning and processing of foods has made life easy for us but the body has to work harder to eliminate the chemicals and additives injested.

When the body is unable to eliminate the toxins effectively, it starts screaming with symptoms of headache, allergies, body aches, nausea, and biliousness.

In midlife, we stop exercising due to overwork and loose lean muscle mass.

The bottom-line: A life time of poor eating habits makes us chronically ill.

Diet & Disease

If you have already precipitated disease then its ill effects can be reduced and its duration can be shortened. Healing the body through natural means takes a long time and perseverance. The average person is generally disinclined to curtail the diet that he follows his life. Some people drink a lot of tea/coffee and eat fried foods during the day, while some rely on sweets to give them stimulation. Some people are addicted to soft drinks and fast food while some eat large quantities of meat and drink alcohol. The body handles these surprise doses of whisky, gin, cigarette smoke and oily foods, heroically until it breaks down. Our digestive system can tolerate improper food and toxins to a certain extent. If it is overloaded for too long then the coronary arteries harden and this eventually may result in a heart attack. We are subsisting on lifeless, over processed pesticide sprayed food, polluted air and water and we depend upon tea, coffee, cigarettes, alcohol chocolates and soft drinks for our stimulation. Is it any wonder, then that the incidence of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, arthritis, allergies, osteoporosis, is increasing!

Natural Healing

Through the principles of correct food management, disease can be prevented. Foods that are close to their natural forms are helpful to the body and foods that have been processed, canned and denatured are harmful to the body. The liver is one of the main organs of detoxification and acts as a blood filter. If your liver is functioning well, toxins can be eliminated. Here is a list of foods that can be had along with their uses:

Beetroot juice is rich in vitamins and minerals and also helps relieve constipation. An average individual who is constipated retains several pounds of stale fetal matter on the intestinal walls, which can give rise to bacteria, emotional disturbances and disease. Beetroot has a laxative effect and helps detoxify the body.

Watermelon juice is a wonderful kidney cleanser. It promotes diuresis and prevents water retention.

• Similarly cabbage juice can help reduce acidity and has cancer fighting in doles.

• Eating celery sticks can help reduce uric acid levels and reduce symptoms of gout.

Flaxseeds are good for the heart.

• Pineapple aids digestion as it contains bromelain and so on.

Foods in their natural form have awesome disease preventing properties and if used correctly through a understanding of body chemistry and food therapy, can restore good health in a sick person thereby reducing his dependency on drugs and medicines. Remember that proper food habits are not just meant for health faddists, but when you become aware of the facts is truly a way of life.
