When you are about to embark on a long
journey to a foreign land, a cross-country backpacking trip or even
a short journey away from home, equip yourself with a first-aid kit that
will see you through any minor crisis’ you might face along the way.
Check for these items:
Stock up your prescription medicine
for kids, elders, others, pets and yourself. The medicine may not
available at your destination. Secondly, medication should be carried in
your hand luggage, just in case your luggage gets lost or is delayed
For lowering fever and easing pain, keep a
supply of paracetamol all the time.
Carry a thermometer. Heat-sensitive
plastic ones are cheap and easy to pack, but digital thermometers are more
accurate and long lasting.
An antiseptic ointment or liquid is
a must to help stop cuts and grazes becoming infected
Plasters for cuts and grazes
Tweezers for removing splinters
Insect repellent which you are not
allergic to.
To soothe insect bites, rashes and sunburn
keep some Calamine lotion.
Rehydration powder is vital for
preventing dehydration caused by diarrhoea and/or vomiting.
You could also carry a cold pack if
possible to reduce swelling from bumps, bites and minor burns.
