A stitch in time saves nine. Ever rising prices of day to day items hardly allow you to save for the rainy day. Here we give some suggestions which will definitely help you to save on the monthly grocery shopping. 1. Careful thinking and planning are required before a visit to the grocery. Check out your kitchen cabinets and fridge. Make a list of items required. 2. Carry the list of items to be bought from the store. Try to stick to the same list. it is very tempting to buy the other items on display. Do not impulse buy, or it will drain your savings. 3. Do ‘comparison pricing’. Collect grocery ads. From all local stores and compare the prices of the items offered by each of them. Select store which offers at the lowest price. 4. Plan your purchases. Note down on a paper the items needed, its quantity against the name of the grocery which offers the lowest price. 5. Do not go to the store hungry! A visit to the snack bar is certainly going to raise the bill and cut on your savings. Your children may also reach out to the rich display of chocolates, treats, toys, candy bars etc. Keep them busy and occupied with little snack bags filled with health fruits or crackers. 6. Buy lean meat. Buy w.r.t. to quality. Avoid meat with lots of fat that you have to trim and throw away. You are not only throwing your fat trimmings but your hard earned money. 7. Let’s compare the branded items and store brands. There’s a possibility that the same company is producing both of them and selling at different prices. Did you find this tip useful?
