Ingredients
½ kg prawns 2 nos onions (sliced) | A few curry leaves A few coriander leaves | For masala 8 dry chillies 1 no onion 1tsp mustard 1 coconut 1 tsp turmeric A few fenugreek seeds | 6 nos peppercorns 1tsp jeera A little tamarind 6 nos garlic flakes Some ajwain (thyme) | Mix and grind the above. [Optional: If possible, fry the masala for a minute before grinding it] . Salt to taste. Method a. Shell, devein prawns and wash thoroughly. b. Grind masala to a fine paste c. In a kadai heat 3-4 tablespoonful ghee or oil d Toss in the curry leaves and sliced onions e. Add ground masala, water (about ½ litre) and salt as per taste f. Fry well and keep stirring. Add prawns and cook till they are done. g. Sprinkle some chopped coriander and serve with rice, bread or roti. Note Thyme or wild caraway is the equivalent of ajwain. |
