Many guys (and even girls) look forward to a date as if it’s going to be featured in the next day’s newspapers --- on the front page. And what does that result in?
Nervousness, what else. And what happens when you’re nervous on a date? You make it a disaster. You say all the wrong things (or you say almost nothing at all), and end up sending the wrong signals. There’s a one-word answer on how you should be on a date: RELAXED. Whatever the outcome of the date, it’s not going to be shown on TV. Be yourself, breathe easily, and enjoy the moments.
You are out on this date, and somehow you manage to get the ice cream all over your whiskers, or a ketchup blotch on your surf-white shirt. What do you do? Instead of cringing in embarrassment and trying to disappear under the table, just laugh it off. If you can think of a funny line at that time, that will help plenty. REMEMBER THAT YOUR SENSE OF HUMOUR IS YOUR BEST DEFENCE WHEN YOU’RE CAUGHT IN SUCH A SITUATION. And remember too that laughter is infectious, and your partner will soon join in. And importantly she won’t be laughing AT you, but WITH you.
Well, you have only one choice then --- end it as soon as possible. But end it gently. There’s no need to resort to such desperate lines as: “I have diabetes. I have to rush home and take my insulin shot!” There are simpler ways of doing it. The simplest way would be: “It’s been a nice evening, but look at the time! I have to rush home, as I have an early morning meeting, or I have some homework to catch up with.” It may not sound very convincing, but at least it doesn’t sound downright unbelievable.
