Unfortunately there are only 24 hours in the day. So you have to fit in your work schedule, fitness routine, reading time, social activity and other activities into these 24 hours. And after playing superman (or woman) if you still want to cram in more activity (like working with street kids or pursuing your passion for theatre), you better buck up and get organized.
A conscious effort to spend every moment of your day fruitfully is in order. And we donít mean that you should forgo your beauty sleep or daydreaming time. No, get your priorities straight about what you want to achieve.
Then keep an activity log. What's that? It is a written account of your daily activity and the time spent on each activity. It helps you to track all that wasted time, and believe it or not there IS a lot of wasted time. This is because we all tend to ignore the passage of time, especially when it comes to checking mail, chatting with co-workers, eating lunch, etc. Secondly, energy levels and hence effectiveness vary through the day. Track this too.
Then what? Well, thoroughly analyze the log. The activity log gives an idea of how to match varying energy levels with types of activities. Thus you will be able to identify and eliminate time-consuming, insignificant activities. Ideally you should be doing your most important tasks when you are alert and concentration and energy levels are at a peak.
